Creating empowered
and accountable teams
that self-support with clear, effective leadership.
I have seen it time and time again - “management training”
The word management, when applied to people, makes me cringe.
However much I dislike the term, it’s actually true for most people leaders.
They are tasked with managing deadlines, suppliers, performance outcomes, schedules, training programs, payroll accounts, and on and on. It’s all part of having a team of employees.
Add that to the plate of an owner who earns in their company?
Someone leading the revenue generation AND team management? Well, I’d be overwhelmed and likely unprepared to eat that much everyday and feel like it’s actually feeding me the dream I set out on.
What’s interesting in my time building and leading teams
is that I have learned that two things are of critical importance for success in smaller teams;
That the team is accountable for their results.
That the owner is accountable for empowering and resourcing those results.
It’s a two-way street.
Owners cannot ask their team to step up without sturdy shoes on their feet and clear direction on the path ahead, while employees cannot drop responsibilities that lead to business success for themselves and the owner.
Every single owner is in partnership with their team. In it together.
But how can we create owner-level commitment in workers?
And how can we create employee-informed perspectives in owners?
I have coined a leadership approach called
Empowered Accountability
and it encompasses this concept entirely. My tool kit provides resources and templates for owners or business managers to use immediately as they learn from my experiences building and empowering teams throughout my career.
We talk about culture-building, which is about “the way you do things” in your company.
We explore values and how they are expressed in actual behaviours rather than words on the wall.

Evolve from a manager to a leader who can empower the team
For owners and managers who want to delegate with clarity, create ownership and accountability among staff, learn to communicate what matters most, and improve the culture of the workplace.
We analyze your internal communication practices and methods to ensure messages are clear, direct, and fully understood by all parties involved.
We work together to help you to build the leadership practice and systems that you need to let go of daily people management and head towards a self-propelling team under informed leadership.
I do this with owners directly and with their business managers, too.
My services in this area of focus helps to solve these typical issues:
Team members coming to you for direction too often
Unmet standards of practice that are compromising your brand experience
Poor documentation to support employee relationships and commitments
Not knowing who to hire, when and how
Creating documents and processes that lead to employee agreement compliance
Knowing when to let someone go or not
Feeling ill-equipped to have difficult conversations that are productive
I help owners become confident about their leadership practice and deliver the tools, training, templates, and tactics necessary to empower themselves and their business managers long-term.
I know you want the best for your business AND your team.
All of the small town owners I have worked with care so much about their teams that support their dreams. It’s actually the business practices within those relationships that either destroy or amplify that ideal state for your team and business.
